Employers Postpone National Protest for Energy Reforms, Planned for September 30

Sofia, September 24 (BTA) - A national protest for reforms in the energy sector, planned for September 30, 2015, has been postponed but is not called off, the four nationally representative employers' organizations wrote in a position in connection with the latest talks with the executive and legislative branches, the Bulgarian Industrial Association said in a press release on Thursday.

The Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association, the Bulgarian Industrial Association, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria remain prepared to set a new date for the protest if their grievances are not addressed.

Their demands include drawing up a Roadmap of Energy Sector Reforms by October 1 and start of its implementation. To this end, the employers expect the working group for drafting the Roadmap including their representatives to be institutionalized presently.

According to the four organizations, there is no alternative to reverting electricity prices for business users to their pre-August 1, 2015 level.
