Prime Minister, Defence Minister Discuss Current Problems in Defence

Sofia, October 2 (BTA) - Defence Minister Nikolay Nenchev conferred with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov after the former returned from an official visit to Algeria on Thursday evening, the Defence Ministry said in a press release. The two discussed all pressing problems in the defence and the amendments to the Military Intelligence Act passed conclusively on Thursday. The state of the Air Force was again discussed, after on Thursday its Commander, Major General Rumen Radev, filed and then withdrew his resignation following a meeting with the PM. Nenchev briefed Borissov on the actions undertaken for repair works of the Bulgarian MiG 29s jet fighters and the options for the development of the fighter aviation.

The participants in the meeting reached consensus on all matters related to the adoption and endorsement of the Programme for the Development of the Defence Capabilities of the Bulgarian Armed Forces until 2020, says the press release.

Nenchev thanked Borissov for the readiness to tackle the problems in security and the state of the Bulgarian Armed Forces. The two affirmed their readiness to continue to work together to implement the defence policy of the Government, says the press release.
