Closer Cooperation


New York/Sofia, October 4 (BTA) - Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Roumyana Buchvarova and New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton discussed opportunities for closer cooperation and exchange of experience in fighting crime, Buchvarova's Ministry said in a press release.

Buchvarova was in New York as a member of the Bulgarian delegation led by President Rosen Plevneliev attending the 70th session of the UN General Assembly. Buchvarova visited the Organized Crime Control Bureau of the New York Police Department and was familiarized with the Domain Awareness System. She was also familiarized with the work of the the Organized Crime Control Bureau's Joint Organized Crime Task Force.

During the meeting Bratton stressed the wish and need for closer cooperation with Europol and the EU Member States in respect of the common challenges before the United States and Europe.
