First Two MiG-29 Engines Delivered by Poland

Sofia, December 29 (BTA) - Two engines for MiG-29 fighters owned by the Polish Air Force were delivered to Graf Ignatievo Air Base on Tuesday in line with an agreement between the governments of Poland and Bulgaria on providing logistical support for MiG-29 aircraft, the Defence Ministry said.

Bulgaria is given the use of the two engines for the next 24 months or 200 flight hours, whichever expires first.

The first two of six engines of the Bulgarian Air Force are to be transported to Poland for repairs on December 30.

Under the intergovernmental agreement, six engines for MiG-29 fighters of the Bulgarian Air Force will be repaired in Poland, after which they can be used for 350 hours or eight years (whichever occurs first) before the next overhaul. The contract is worth a total of 6,138,000 euro. No VAT, customs duties and taxes are payable by Bulgaria.
