President Rosen Plevneliev:"This is a bad day for Europe's democracy"

Sofia, June 24 (BTA) - Reacting to the results of Thursday's referendum in the UK in favour of the country's exit from the EU (the so-called Brexit),  Bulgaria's President Rosen Plevneliev commented that this is a bad day for
Europe's democracy and economy and for the EU, as well as a non-learned history lesson. In his words, a great power which is a symbol of free trade and liberal democracy has decided to isolate itself within its national borders on its island. "I am deeply sorry for this result, I am deeply concerned that today nationalists, populists triumph in Europe's streets, but I am sure that united Europe - with or without the UK - should look ahead," Plevneliev said.
