PM Borissov Talks with New EP President Tajani

Sofia, January 18 (BTA) - Outgoing Prime Minister Boyko Borissov talked by phone with the new European Parliament President Antonio Tajani on Tuesday evening minutes after his election. This has emerged from a Facebook post by Borissov.

Borissov wrote: "I congratulated him on the high trust and support on which he was elected and wished him a successful term."

The two discussed common challenges before the EU such as Brexit, the migration crisis and EU's security. "We rallied around the idea that Europe should stay strong and stable and the EU members should be united when it comes to making the important decisions for EU citizens," added Borissov.

According to Borissov, Tajani's election was a great achievement for the European People's Party.

Borissov wrote that for his part Tajani wished GERB success in the upcoming elections and thanked for the support of GERB's group in the European Parliament and voiced confidence that GERB will win again the trust of Bulgarian voters.
