Voter Turnout at 42.7% by 5 PM
Sofia, March 26 (BTA) - The voter turnout in Sunday's early parliamentary elections in Bulgaria was 42.74 per cent as at 5 p.m. Sofia time. A total of 2,910,601 people cast their ballots by that time, Central Election Commission Spokesperson Kamelia Neikova said.
As at 5 p.m., turnout was highest in Sofia Region at 50.02 per cent, and lowest in Sofia's 24th constituency at 37.18 per cent. In Kurdjali it stood at 30.43 per cent, and in Haskovo at 43.77 per cent. The turnout in Varna was 42.34 per cent, Bourgas 46.56 per cent, Veliko Turnovo 44.95 per cent, City of Plovdiv 40.98 per cent, and Stara Zagora 43.7 per cent.
Tally sheets of completed elections have been received from New Zealand and Australia.
No election irregularities have been reported from Turkey, except for one case in Bursa in which too many voters swarmed into a voting section.
