Sofia, July 3 (BTA) - President Rumen Radev and Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met in the offices of the President's Administration on Monday, Radev's press secretariat reported. The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's initiative. The two leaders discussed a range of matters concerning the strengthening of the security sector, the reform of the judicial system, projects to upgrade the Armed Forces, and Bulgaria's positions in an international context.

Radev and Borissov concurred that the government institutions should work together on matters which are important to the public. They acknowledged the significance of the decisions of the May 30 meeting of the Consultative Council on National Security as regards raising the motivation of security sector employees and speeding up the modernization of the Armed Forces. Radev said the presidential institution finds it necessary to adhere to the clearly regulated process of implementation of the projects to upgrade the Armed Forces and the military expertise provided in the framework of that process. "It is important that the process of modernization of the Armed Forces does not stop," the President said.

He and Borissov were unanimous that Bulgaria needs to fight corruption effectively in order to meet citizens' expectations of justice. Borissov commended Radev for his call to set up a single body to combat high-level corruption.

The two expressed their shared opinion that it takes concord and joint actions by all government institutions to defend Bulgaria's positions in the international arena.

The Prime Minister briefed the President about the outcome of his recent visits to France, Germany and Croatia. For his part, the President updated the Prime Minister on his trips in Southeastern Europe and his forthcoming visits to Montenegro and Italy at the invitation of the two countries' presidents.
