London/Sofia, December 11 (BTA) - Meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May during a one-day working visit to the UK on Monday, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov expressed hope that the UK will remain a strategic partner of the EU. "Despite the ongoing processes between the EU and Britain, Bulgaria expects the UK to remain a strategic partner of the EU on key matters such as security and the combat against terror," said Borissov as quoted by the government press office.

The two government leaders discussed cooperation in migration and security.

They gave high marks to the existing cooperation between the special services of Bulgaria and the UK.

Theresa May said that being a former Interior Minister she can appreciate Bulgaria's efforts in the process of containing the migrant crisis in Europe and fighting serious crimes.

She said that her country is leaving the EU but not Europe.

Borissov voiced expectations that London will support the EU integration of the Western Balkans. He said that embracing them in the family of democratic values is the strongest guarantee for a successful and peaceful development of this continent.
