Varna, (on the Black Sea), January 10 (BTA) - The Bulgarian EU Presidency is faced with the huge responsibility of drawing up the internal rules, statutes and composition of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) and of providing it with sufficient financing so that EPPO commence work in 2020, Bulgarian MEP Emil Radev (European People's Party) said.

Radev recalled that the joining of Bulgaria and Romania to the border-free Schengen Area received huge political support from "absolutely all" political groups in the European Parliament at its last plenary sitting in 2017.

Dwelling on the common European border security, Radev said that more work should be done in respect of effective return of migrants with no or irregular documents in their countries of origin, as well as in the creation of information systems to enable detection of migrants with forged or irregular documents.

On the issue of cybersecurity in the EU, Radev said that work is underway for the creation of "a solid EU cybersecurity agency". The agency will aid member states, European institutions and businesses in handling cyber attacks. A concept will also be developed how to respond in such cases. Radev said too that funding has already been made available for the first projects on the matter.
