Sofia, January 10 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) wants a parliamentary hearing of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov about the situation in the country after the recent murders, BSP Deputy Chairman Kiril Dobrev said here Wednesday. He was speaking at a news conference after emerging from a meeting of the party's Executive Bureau.
The principal question is whether the institutions can guarantee the security of the public, Dobrev said, citing recent cases of kidnapping, murder attempts, as well as last week's killings in Novi Iskar and Monday's murder of businessman Peter Hristov.
The Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council has started, and the power holders are accusing the BSP of sabotaging this process and wanting to discredit the country, Dobrev went on to say. However, everything happening in Bulgaria in the last months and the last several days cannot but discredit the power holders and the country, he added.
The BSP will table a no-confidence motion against the incumbent cabinet over corruption, as well as crime and criminal business, Dobrev said. On January 13, the BSP National Council will also discuss its position about the ratification of the Istanbul Convention. The Executive Bureau has already decided on a negative vote. The plenum on the 13th may express a different view, Dobrev said.
