site.btaTourism Ministry Launches Procedure for Termination of 118 Tour Operators' Registration

Sofia, January 16 (BTA) - The Tourism Ministry is launching a procedure for the termination of the registration and removal from the National Tourist Register of 118 tour operators, the ministry reported Monday. The main part of them have an address of registration in Sofia, Plovdiv (South Central Bulgaria) and Bourgas (on the Black Sea).

One of the two reasons for this procedure is the lack of a tour operator liability insurance, which is a compulsory requirement for the performance of a tour operator's activity. The second reason is that the company has not received its certificate of registration within the term set in the Tourism Act, without which the company cannot carry out a tour operator's and travel agent's activity.

The procedure for removal of a tour operator from the National Tourist Register is launched following a decision of the Expert Committee on Registration of Tour Operators and Travel Agents with the Tourism Ministry, whose members are experts from the ministry as well as from associations of tour operators and travel agents.

Registered in the National Tourist Register are 3,311 tour operators and travel agencies.
