site.btaPMs of Bulgaria, Luxembourg Discuss Single Digital Market in Phone Call

Sofia, January 19 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov spoke over the phone to his Luxembourg counterpart Xavier Bettel on Thursday and the two discussed the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council with a focus on digitalization and the single digital market, said the government press office. They said that it is an area of shared interest and the two countries will partner for the fast development of this priority.

The Luxembourg government leader said that his country is interested in organizing jointly with the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport, IT and Communications, an informal meeting of the telecommunucations ministers and the line EU Commissioner, Mariya Gabriel, in Sofia in April.

The aim is to step up the development of the single digital market and the telecom connections of the EU.

Such a meeting would reconfirm Bulgaria's commitment to Estonia to follow up on the efforts in an area which is of priority for many member states, the government press office said.

Xavier Bettel congratulated Boyko Borissov on the commencement of the Bulgarian Presidency and the address he gave to the European Parliament in Strasbourg on January 17.

Bettel also wished the best of success to Borissov and the Bulgarian government in the next six months.

The Bulgarian government leader invited his Luxembourg counterpart to visit Sofia so that the two can discuss the issues on the EU agenda and pool efforts for best results.
