site.btaParliament Votes Down No-Confidence Motion against Borissov Government

Sofia, January 25 (BTA) - As the first item on its Thursday agenda, Parliament voted down a no-confidence motion against the government of Boyko Borissov. The motion was tabled by the opposition Socialist party over what they see as the government's failed anti-corruption policy.

The motion was supported by 103 MPs of the Socialist group and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms with 131 votes "against" from the ruling GERB, the United Patriots, Volya and one independent.

To go through, the motion needed the votes of 121 MPs in the 242-seat legislature.

It was the first no-confidence motion against the third government of Prime Minister Borissov.

Several government ministers were in the plenary as the vote was taken.
