Border police and customs officers seized 34.21 kg of cocaine at the ​Danube Bridge near Vidin - Calafat, the Customs Agency said on Wednesday.

On March 31, officers of the Vidin Border Police Department and customs officers stopped a truck, driven by a 37-year old Bulgarian citizen, entering the country from Italy. The truck was accompanied to the Vidin Customs Bureau terminal for a thorough inspection, where officers discovered four openings with lids, secured with floor screws, from which 30 packages containing over 34 kg of cocaine were found and seized.

The driver has been detained at the Vidin Police Station and pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
