A seminar for teachers and principals on how to work with artificial intelligence (AI) will be held in Varna on February 22, the Regional Department of Education said. The main organizer of the event, the Varna Center for Creative Training, will also discuss the preparation of school classes for STEM work.

The seminar will focus on how AI can help teachers create lessons and generate ideas for hands-on activities in just a few seconds. The training will also touch on test formats, how they can be adapted to the new reality, including how teachers can "catch" their students who rely on artificial intelligence to solve their homework.

The training is also related to the upcoming construction of a STEM center in every school in the country, Silvia Decheva, regional manager of the Varna Center for Creative Training, told BTA. She recalled that the implementation of these projects is in line with the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. They need to be implemented by May 2026.

On February 16, the Ministry of Education and Science published on their website guidelines for more awareness in the use of artificial intelligence in the education process. The document will also be distributed to educational institutions, aiming to support the use of new technologies, the Ministry's press centre said.

The document presents examples on how AI can be used in education and improve learning processes and contribute to increasing student results. Potential risks have also been carefully analyzed, including specific scenarios in which use must be precisely managed.

The document also notes that despite the large-scale cases AI is capable of solving, it is not a substitute for skills. Systems should serve as support and assistive tools, and not to replace the responsibilities of students, teachers or administrators. It is emphasized that teachers should not at any time overtrust artificial intelligence in this process, but only use it as an aid to free up more time for individual work with students, the Ministry notes.
