Young people from four countries took part in the Eco Energy project, which trained them in ecology and an ecological lifestyle at the Green Europe eco centre in the Kazanlak village of Srednogorovo, said on Wednesday Maria Slavova, Chair of the Mutual Aid Youth Development Centre.

The eco centre was created to provoke young people to live environmentally friendly, she pointed out. Twelve young people from Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain and Bulgaria participated in the project and were impressed by the town. "The idea for the project was born a long time ago, when the association applied for accreditation under the Erasmus+ programme. We have certain goals that we have to cover, and ecology is one of the highlights", said Slavova. 

Among the topics of the training were separate waste collection, composting, zero-waste living, eco-education and environmentally-oriented campaigns. "The project included training where the participants showed their knowledge and discussed what is happening in each country in the field of ecology, we showed them how to recycle paper and plastic, and also how to recycle, to reuse things, to recover them, or, if that is not possible, how to dispose of them," she noted.
