The Governor of the US State of Hawai’i, Josh Green, proclaimed Bulgaria’s National Holiday, March 3, as Bulgaria and Hawai’i Friendship Day, the Bulgarian Consulate General in Los Angeles told BTA.
The proclamation was issued at the initiative of Bulgaria's Consul General in Los Angeles Boyko Hristov. The document recognizes the significant contributions of Bulgarians to Hawai'i society in the areas of social justice, cultural diversity, civil society and economic development.
Bulgarians and the people of Hawai’i are connected by a strong friendship based on shared values and a vision for the democratic development of the world, the proclamation reads.
2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the accession of Bulgaria in NATO, 121 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between the US and Bulgaria and 146 years of the reestablishment of Bulgaria, Governor Green noted.
