On November 28, a videoconference took place between the leadership of Ruse University "Angel Kanchev", representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bulgarian Embassy in Chisinau, Moldova, Ruse University announced on Wednesday.
The main topic of the meeting, chaired by Deputy Minister of Education and Science Prof. Genka Petrova, was the upcoming signing of the agreement between the governments of Bulgaria and Moldova on the accession of the Taraclia State University "Grigorii Tsamblak" (TSU) to the structure of the University of Ruse. The meeting was attended by experts of the Ministry of Education and Science, and representatives of the Bulgarian Embassy in Chisinau.
Important aspects of the future cooperation between the two institutions were discussed at the meeting, including academic and administrative details.
The Rector of Ruse University Acad. Hristo Beloev confirmed the readiness for the act of accession, pointing out that Ruse University will provide 3 specialties for the study of our compatriots from Taraclia and Bolhrad region. They are Business Management, Agricultural and Transport Engineering, and Computer Science. The choice of these programs is fully in line with the needs of specialists in the places inhabited by more than 40,000 ethnic Bulgarians.
At the end of January 2024, the governments of Bulgaria and Moldova will formally sign the agreement for the accession of TSU to the structure of Ruse University.
The University of Ruse has supported the development of Taraclia State University since its establishment in 2004 by providing methodological support and information resources. In 2016, the Academic Council of the University approved annual plans for joint work. The University's commitment to the preservation of the Bulgarian communities in Moldova and Ukraine is reflected in the Development Policy of the University of Ruse as well as in the specially developed programme for working with Bulgarian communities abroad.
The University maintains an active relationship with the leadership of the Taraclia region in Moldova. Linguistic practices and qualification courses for pupils, students and teachers from Taraclia and other regions in Moldova are held annually at Ruse University. Since 2022, the university has also been implementing long-term mobility of TSU students under the Erasmus+ programme.
