Plamena Mitkova finished fourth in the women's long jump at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in the Chinese city of Nanjing.

The 20-year-old athlete leapt 6.63 metres in her only successful attempt in the competition but injured herself on her last attempt and left the track in a wheelchair.

American Claire Bryant won the gold medal with a personal best of 6.96 metres. Annik Kälin of Switzerland finished second with 6.83 metres and Fatima Diame of Spain placed third with 6.72 metres.

Plamena Mitkova was the only Bulgarian who took part in a final at the championships in Nanjing.
