Defending champion Grigor Dimitrov was eliminated in the semi-finals of the ATP 250 hard court tennis tournament in Brisbane (Australia).
The No. 2 seed Bulgarian retired due to injury in the second set against Czech Jiri Lehecka with a score of 4:6, 4:4 after 84 minutes of play.
Before this match Dimitrov eliminated Yannick Hanfmann, Aleksandar Vukic and Jordan Thompson in two sets. It was his sixth semi-final in Brisbane and 55th on the ATP Tour.
The Bulgarian is the 2017 and 2024 Brisbane champion, as well as a 2013 finalist.
"I'm sorry the match ended this way. I hope Grigor gets better faster," were Lehecka's first words.
The Czech will play the winner of the match between Reilly Opelka (USA) and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (France) on Sunday in the fourth ATP final of his career.
