Bulgaria beat Luxembourg 1-0 in their penultimate fifth match of Group C3 in the UEFA Nations League on Friday, collecting 8 points with which they went up to 2nd place in the standings. Meanwhile, the leaders from Northern Ireland managed a 2-0 win over Belarus and remained at the top with 10 points.

This was the first victory for Bulgaria as a guest since November 16, 2022, when they defeated Cyprus 2:0 in a control game. The last victory in an official match outside the country was on September 26, 2022 (1:0 over the Republic of North Macedonia).

The Bulgarian team played well only in the first part of the game, while the second part turned into a real test. Goalkeeper Mitov made 13 saves from 20 shots at the goal.
