Bulgaria’s highest ranked tennis player Grigor Dimitrov won his first clay court match of the season on Monday. The 32-year-old secured a 7-5 6-2 victory over world No. 138 Valentin Vacherot at the Monte Carlo Masters tournament.

The start to the match was difficult for Dimitrov, as his opponent broke his serve in the first game. The Bulgarian managed to break back but needed 56 minutes to get a 7-5 lead. The ninth seed in the tournament took the initiative early in the second set and managed to close the match comfortably.

In the second round, Dimitrov will face the winner of the match between Matteo Berrettini and Miomir Kecmanovic, which will take place on Tuesday.
