Bulgaria finished in seventh place at the European Women's Volleyball Championship. The Bulgarian women's team, led by coach Lorenzo Micelli, lost 0:3 against the Netherlands in the direct eliminations, but their final ranking became known after the conclusion of the last quarter-final matches, where European vice-champion and world champion Serbia won 3:1 (24:26, 25:17, 25:11, 25:14) against Czechia, while Turkiye eliminated Poland after 3:0 (25:23, 25:22 , 25:18).

This is the best ranking for the Bulgarian team at the European Championship since 2003, when Bulgaria was again in the seventh position in the ranking.
Bulgarian team player Radostina Marinova said she was satisfied with the overall performance of the team.

"That was our goal at the championship, but we tried to achieve things step by step. First we wanted to be second in the group, and then to achieve victory in the round of 16. In the match against the Netherlands, we were not so wound up. Rather the opposite, we knew what kind of opponent we're playing against. They're a team on another level. We'd play a lot more freely because we had nothing to lose. The pressure was on them. I'm sorry we finished like that, but we achieved something good with our overall performance and we're happy. The Olympic qualification will be quite difficult for us, the matches are every day or every other day. We are a young team that still needs to be built up in the future," said Marinova upon the national team's return to Sofia.
