Bulgaria's International Master Nurgyul Salimova ended in a draw with the black pieces against Aleksandra Goryachkina (Russia) in the first game of the final of the Women's World Chess Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The two opponents shook hands on the 33rd move. The 20-year-old Salimova played solidly with the black pieces and left no opportunities for Goryachkina, No. 3 in the world, to use the first move advantage of the white pieces. The Bulgarian controlled the board and made a draw with three repetitions at the end of the game.

The second classical chess game between the two will be played on Sunday. Whoever wins, will secure the World Cup. If the second game ends in a draw, a rapid chess tie-break will decide the winner of the match.
