A forum on “Bulgarian Technologies in India: Launch of the SITE [Science, Innovation, Technology and Economy] India–Bulgaria Network” took place Friday at the Trakia Economic Zone (TEZ) here to discuss prospects for technological collaboration between India and Bulgaria. The forum was opened by TEZ Director engineer Plamen Panchev together with the Ambassador of India to Bulgaria, Arun Kumar Sahu.

During the event, the SITE India–Bulgaria network was officially presented. One of its goals is to identify Bulgarian technologies suitable for fast-track entry into the Indian market through the Republic of India’s commercialisation programme. The network will also support Bulgarian companies pursuing business initiatives in India, as well as identify investment and trade opportunities for Indian enterprises in Bulgaria. Its priority areas will include energy systems, battery technologies, drones, water supply, environmental protection, healthcare, digital technologies, and other sectors of mutual strategic interest.

Addressing the forum, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bharat Technology and Impact Accelerator (BaharaTIA), Sanmit Ahuja, explained that, in order to accelerate international cooperation and technology exchange, BharaTIA and Centre for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies are launching the global SITE network. The platform aims to establish two-way business and technology corridors between India and its partner countries.

Sahu said: “I believe that India and Indians are doing exceptionally well in all those new technologies that are shaping the world today”. He presented statistics showing that one million high-school graduates leave India each year to study at English-language universities across the globe. “One of my ideas is to attract people working internationally who are seeking technological solutions,” the Ambassador added.
