GERB–UDF MP Tsveta Karayancheva has been elected Deputy Chair of the Committee on Legal Affairs and International Cooperation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC). Karayancheva announced the news in a post on her Facebook profile following the committee’s meeting in Borjomi, Georgia.
She noted that she had the honour of chairing the session, which focused on the use of artificial intelligence for sustainable socio-economic development in the BSEC region and its legal aspects.
Karayancheva added that this year the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria will once again host the General Assembly, which will take place in November in Sofia. Representatives of all member states are expected to participate in the event, sharing their views on cooperation between the EU and other international organisations, as well as approving recommendations prepared by the Assembly’s members on the social, economic and legal aspects of the sustainable application of artificial intelligence in the Black Sea region, she wrote.
She recalled that PABSEC is an international organisation with a 32-year history, comprising 13 member states, and has always upheld the principles of dialogue, cooperation, and respect for the specific characteristics of each member country. “In 2019, as Chairperson of the 44th National Assembly, I had the honour of serving as the rotating chair of the General Assembly and welcoming the representatives of all member states,” Karayancheva recalled.
