Consumers can exercise control on traders by demanding receipts and checking whether they are real or fake through the National Revenue Agency's mobile app, NRA Mobile, the NRA said in a press release. The app was used to check over 300,000 receipts in 2024 and more than 40,000 this year. Not a single fake receipt was found.

The app scans the QR code on the receipt issued by traders and provides information on the purchase value, date and time as well as the fiscal memory of the cash register. The customer can compare whether the details printed on the receipt and those shown on the the mobile application match or differ. If there is a difference, the mobile app allows direct contact with the NRA by phone.

The app user can also check whether the details of a specific receipt have been entered into the NRA computer servers, which requires waiting for several minutes. If all is well, the application displays a green screen. This means that the document has been successfully received at the NRA.

NRA data show that since the beginning of 2024, nearly 200,000 consumers check daily whether the receipts issued by traders are real or fake.
