"Let's be responsible for Bulgaria's future and stand together in upholding the democratic values," the Foreign Ministry said on Facebook on Bulgaria's National Day.

"Today we celebrate 147 years since Bulgaria's Liberation! On this day, we honour the memory and heroism of those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the Bulgarian people. Thanks to their sacrifice, we can proudly declare that as a full member of the European Union and NATO, Bulgaria takes its rightful place on the international stage and defends the core principles of freedom, justice and peace," the Foreign Ministry said. It called on the public to remember the lessons of history.
