site.btaWholesale Prices of Most Basic Foods, Fruits and Vegetables Rise in a Week
The market index for wholesale food prices in Bulgaria went up by 0.33% to 2.158 points in the outgoing week, show data released by the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets on Sunday. Last week, the index stood at 2.151 points.
The base level of 1 point was set in 2005.
All vegetables monitored by the State Commissioned appreciated: greenhouse cucumbers by 9% to BGN 2.95/kg, greenhouse tomatoes by 7.5% to BGN 3.40/kg, carrots by 8.7% to 1.23/kg, onions by 8.5% to BGN 1.07/kg, garlic by 1.9% to BGN 5.77/kg. Potatoes went up by 1.5% to BGN 1.19/kg, cabbage by 7.7% to BGN 1.18/kg, and lettuce by 1.8% to BGN 1.02/kg.
Grapes gained 11.8% to BGN 2.92/kg, apples went up by 3.6% to BGN 1.77/kg, and bananas rose by 1.3% to BGN 2.75/kg. The prices of the following citrus fruits went down: tangerines by 10% to BGN 2.82/kg, oranges by 5.2% to BGN 2.40/kg, and lemons by 4.6% to BGN 2.23/kg.
The price of white brined cheese from cow's milk went up by 0.8% to BGN 11.27/kg and that of yellow kashkaval cheese of the Vitosha type gained 1.2% to BGN 17.29/kg.
Yoghurt (with a fat content of 3% and over) appreciated by 4.1% to BGN 1.31 for a cup of 400 grams. Milk (3% fat content) rose by 0.7% to BGN 2.43 per liter.
The price of poultry went up by 2.9% to BGN 6.42/kg. Eggs (size M) went up by 1.9% to BGN 0.33 per piece.
Rice went down by 0.6% to BGN 3.31/kg, lentils rose by 1.6% to BGN 4.36/kg and dry beans traded at BGN 4.34/kg as the week before.
Sugar lost 3.6% to BGN 1.90/kg. Cooking oil gained 5.8% to BGN 3.12 per litre. The price of cow's butter (125 g stick) went up by 1.8% to BGN 3.10. Flour (Grade 500) appreciated by 2.3% to BGN 1.33/kg.
