A two-day national roundtable on energy efficiency policies for buildings starts Wednesday at the Hemus Hotel in Sofia. The forum is organized by the Center for Energy Efficiency EnEffect and the Municipal Energy Efficiency Network EcoEnergy in partnership with the Renovate Bulgaria Coalition and the Association of Bulgarian Energy Agencies (ABEA), the conference organizers said.
Participants in the opening plenary session, which will start at 9 am, will include representatives from the European Commission, the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, the World Bank, Renovate Europe, the Fund of Funds, private and financing institutions, who will present successful policies and tools that can accelerate the decarbonisation process in Bulgaria.
The programme for the day will continue with a dedicated discussion session on financing energy efficiency investments, which will look at how public and private investment can be pooled for the successful implementation of sustainable projects, followed by thematic panels on tools for implementing the renewed Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
The event will continue on Thursday with the opening of the 18th National Conference of the Association of Bulgarian Energy Agencies, where the focus will be on educational projects and initiatives to improve qualifications in the construction sector, the implementation of new technologies such as virtual reality and new methods to train professionals to build zero-emission buildings. A special seminar will also address the fight against energy poverty, and separate sessions will focus on citizen participation in the energy transition.
