site.btaFood Prices Index Up in Outgoing Week
The market index for wholesale food prices in Bulgaria went up by 0.94% to 2.151 points in the outgoing week, show data released by the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets on Sunday. Last week, the index stood at 2.131 points.
The base level of 1 point was set in 2005.
Greenhouse cucumbers appreciated by 9.1% to BGN 2.78 per kilogram, while greenhouse tomatoes depreciated by 5.4% to BGN 3.24 per kilogram. Potatoes appreciated by 4.4% to BGN 1.19 per kilogram, while carrots appreciated by 4.7% to BGN 1.16 per kilogram. The price of onions went up by 3.6% to BGN 1.03 per kilogram, while that of cabbage increased by 6.2% to BGN 1.10 per kilogram.
The price of lemons decreased by 8.4% to BGN 2.29 per kilogram, while the decrease in bananas was minimal by 1.3% to BGN 2.69 per kilogram. The price of tangerines dropped by 7.5% to BGN 3.04 per kilogram.
The price of white brined cheese from cow's milk went down by 0.8% to BGN 11.17/kg and that of yellow 'kashkaval' cheese of the Vitosha type went up by 1.1% to BGN 17.10/kg.
Yoghurt (with a fat content of 3% and over) ) depreciated by 0.3% to BGN 1.27 for a cup of 400 grammes, while fresh milk (3% fat content) appreciated by 0.7% to BGN 2.41 per liter.
The price of poultry went down by 0.9% to BGN 6.26/kg, while that of eggs (size M) went up by 2.5% to BGN 0.33 per piece.
The price of rice went down by 2.7% to BGN 3.31/kg, while that of lentils by 1.5% to BGN 4.32/kg and of beans, by 0.3% to BGN 4.31/kg.
Sugar went down in price by 2.2% to BGN 1.93 per kilogram and cooking oil went up by 1.9% to BGN 3.00 per litre. The price of cow's butter (125 gram package) went up by 4.9% to BGN 3.06 per piece. Flour (Type 500) depreciated by 2.3% to BGN 1.30 per kilogram.
