Bulgaria is interested in the Italian experience in year-round tourism in winter resorts. This transpired at a meeting between Italian Ambassador here Giuseppina Zarra and Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev, the Embassy said. The meeting, which took place on October 30 at the ministry, focused on cooperation between the two countries on the development of different types of tourism - winter, summer, cultural, rural, culinary.
On this basis, the exchange of experiences for the creation of sustainable integrated tourism packages was discussed.
Minister Miloshev expressed interest in advancing cooperation in the field of year-round tourism in winter tourist resorts, taking into account the Italian expertise and also with a view to preserving nature in these areas
The diplomat highlighted Bulgaria's wealth of tourist destinations with huge potential for development, to which the Italian experience could contribute, and agreed on the need to further exchange and explore possible Italian-Bulgarian ways of cooperation during future meetings, the embassy said.
According to data of the Tourism Ministry, 138,641 Italian tourists visited Bulgaria between January and November 2023, or 36.5% more than in the same period in 2022. More than 247,000 Bulgarians visited Italy between January and November 2023, an increase compared with the pre-pandemic levels.
