A Bulgarian-Czech Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) was set up in Sofia on Thursday. The inaugural event was held at the Czech Embassy in Bulgaria in the presence of Czech Minister for European Affairs Martin Dvorak and Czech Ambassador Miroslav Toman.
The BCCC is chaired by public relations expert Maxim Behar. The deputy chair is Georgi Petkov, who heads the Bulgarian subsidiary of Czech medical equipment supplier BTL.
Behar said: “I am convinced that the BCCC will become an important factor for the development of our two countries’ business relations. We will work to strengthen our economic ties and to create a favourable investment environment. I believe that, together, we can achieve many successes and open new business opportunities in Bulgaria and Czechia.”
Ambassador Toman described the BCCC’s establishment as “a great event in Bulgarian-Czech relations which will undoubtedly contribute to a further improvement of cooperation between our two countries.” The diplomat thanked everyone involved in the initiative, particularly Maxim Behar, the main initiator. “The whole team of the Embassy and myself will support you unconditionally in this undertaking,” the Ambassador said.
The BCCC represents Bulgarian and Czech companies which are already successful or show interest in doing business in the two countries. Its mission is to facilitate business relations between the two countries, support Czech companies willing to invest in the Bulgarian economy and assist Bulgarian companies interested in expanding into the Czech market. The organization will serve as a bridge between the business communities and the governments of the two countries, seeking to create a more favourable business environment and to open new opportunities for cooperation.
