site.btaState Hospitals' Debt Estimated at over BGN 630 Mln, Municipal Hospitals' at BGN 200 Mln
The debt of state hospitals adds up tp BGN 639,121,000, of which BGN 46,041,000 is outstanding debt, according to processed data from the hospitals as of June 30, 2024, published on the website of the Ministry of Health. The debt of municipal hospitals as of the same date amounted to BGN 200,466,000, of which BGN 14,321,000 is outstanding.
This week the caretaker Government approved additional payments under the Ministry of Health's budget for 2024 to provide a loan of BGN 25 million to the University Hospital "Lozenets" in Sofia. The loan is granted for the repayment of outstanding debt of the medical institution.
According to the information provided by the University Hospital "Lozenets", the loan will be used to repay outstanding debt to suppliers of medicines and medical devices, external service providers and consumables, the Ministry of Health said Thursday. The hospital statement also adds that the outstanding debt as of August 31, 2024 had accumulated back in time, some of it being due for over two years.
