The Commission for Consumer Protection (CCP) is conducting a campaign to check online shops on their announced summer price reductions and has found violations. The announcement was published on the CCP website on Wednesday.

It was found that most of the online shops checked did not specify the period during which the goods were sold at reduced prices, which contravenes the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), the Commission said.

In this regard, the CCP calls on traders to strictly comply with the requirements of the CPA, bearing in mind that any price reduction notice must specify the goods and services or the group of goods and services for which the price reduction is valid, as well as the conditions under which it takes place. The period during which the goods and services are sold at reduced prices must also be indicated.

Discounts cannot be offered for less than one day and for more than one month, the CCP reminds.
