The base of the Troyan Mountain Rescue Service was renovated with donations and a new bus was purchased for the detachment as well, Marin Sirakov, head of the mountain rescuers, told BTA on Thursday.
The interior of the rescuers' base in the area of Bazov Dyal was partially renovated, the plumbing was repaired, the electrical installation was renewed and new kitchen furniture and appliances were purchased. The medical office for urgent medical manipulations at the base has also been renewed, Sirakov pointed out, adding that all of the renovation work was done with volunteer labor by the squad members.
With donations from residents and companies, a bus was also purchased for the needs of the detachment. "With the bus, we will be able to travel quickly and safely to the busiest areas that we supervise. In addition, it will help us fulfill one of the most important requirements for transporting rescue dogs, namely to provide a calm and isolated environment during travel so that their performance does not decrease before they arrive in the area of active operations," Sirakov noted. The Troyan detachment has three dogs and is established as a leader in this regard in North Bulgaria, he added.
Sirakov and his colleagues thanked all volunteers and facilitators who helped the unit with financial and material donations or with personal work.
