Representatives of Mundoro, a Canadian-based company that will explore for metallic minerals in the municipalities of Svoge, Mezdra and Botevgrad, have assured caretaker Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev that their activity will not have impact on the tourist attractions in these municipalities, Miloshev said during Question Time in Parliament on Friday.

Misoshev stressed that he held a meeting with Mundoro, parental company of Bulgaria Alpha. At the meeting, the Minister was assured that the tourist attractions of Kom-Emine, Pod Kamiko and Juglata would not be impacted by the drilling.

He noted that representatives of the company have declared that all activities under the contract, which came into force on August 11, 2022, will comply with the relevant environmental standards. Each drilling will take about 10 to 15 days and will be followed by reclamation and restoration of the drilling site, no tourist routes will be affected, the minister said.

Miloshev assured that he will regularly request information from the minister of energy on how the protection of natural resources and the safety of tourists is ensured. Miloshev said he will also be in continuous dialogue with local authorities and tourism businesses in the region to support their aspirations to develop specialised types of tourism.
