The South Korean company Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co (Hyundai Engineering & Construction) has remained the only candidate for the construction and commissioning of Units 7 and 8 at Kozloduy N-plant, with AP1000 technology, after a committee reviewed the applicants' documents to ensure they meet all requirements, according to Kozloduy NPP - New Capacities.
Bidders included Fluor, Bechtel Nuclear Power Company Limited, Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., a consortium led by China National Nuclear Corporation Overseas as leader, China Energy Engineering Group Tianjin Electric Power Construction Co. , and China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited.
Earlier this week, Energy Minister Rumen Radev and US Assistant Secretary of Energy for International Affairs Andrew Light signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation on a project to build a nuclear capacity at the Kozloduy N-Plant site and a civilian nuclear programme in Bulgaria].
At the end of last year, the National Assembly decided to proceed with the construction of units 7 and 8 of Kozloduy NPP with AP1000 technology.
