A Conference on Policies and Investments for a Sustainable, Efficient and Secure Energy System took place here on Monday. The event, organized by the Eneffect Center for Energy Efficiency with the assistance of the Ministry of Finance, gathered experts in the industry for the sixteenth time.
Among the participants were Sofia Deputy Mayor Nadezhda Bobcheva, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Angelina Boneva, and World Bank representative Mariano Gonzalez.
Boneva, quoted by the Regional Development Ministry, said that the energy sector is transforming, and Bulgaria is trying to catch up. She said that some of the strategic documents are late, while Bulgaria is "chasing" European goals that have to be implemented. According to Boneva, all types of energy and their use must take a new direction, as coal can no longer be the cornerstone of electricity production.
Discussion sessions focused on issues related to opportunities for larger-scale investment in the building sector, including the development and capitalization of the National Decarbonisation Fund. Also discussed were the most effective policies and investments for a sustainable, efficient, and secure energy system under the integration plan in the field of energy and climate.
