The Sofia Philharmonic will perform for the third time at the prestigious Musikverein Golden Hall in Vienna on March 17, following an invitation from one of Austria’s leading music agencies. Under the baton of Maestro Nayden Todorov, the programme will feature Nino Rota’s Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra with soloist Sergio Manteiga, Sergei Prokofiev’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No.2, op.63 with soloist Fabiola Kim, and Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 Italian, Op. 90, the Sofia Philharmonic said in a press release.
A day before the Vienna concert, on March 16, the same programme will be performed at the Konzerthaus in Klagenfurt, Austria.
The Soloists
Described by The New York Times as a "brilliant soloist", Fabiola Kim is also a chamber musician and educator. She has collaborated with the Seoul Philharmonic, Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Symphony Orchestra, and Munich Symphony Orchestra. Her album 1939, recorded with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, has received high praise from BBC Music Magazine, Gramophone, and The Strad Magazine.
Sergio Manteiga is currently a trombonist with the Basque National Orchestra. Despite his young age, he has already been a soloist with the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra and the Galicia Youth Symphony Orchestra. He has trained with some of Europe’s most renowned trombonists, including members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic.
