site.btaSilvana Papadami Shows Magic of East in Exhibition of Painted Silk

An exhibition of 12 paintings on silk by designer Silvana Papadami is on display at the Heritage Art Space in Sofia, the organizers said. The exhibition is titled "The Magic of the East".

The artist said that it is increasingly rare to see fine art being painted on silk, or the so-called batik technique. "It is a difficult technique, unknown to most of my colleagues, and it takes years to master, but it is fascinating and magical," she explained.

She noted that one of the works was created by her ten-year-old daughter, Magdalen Papadami, who will present her painting to the public for the first time.

Silvana Papadami is an art historian and designer by training and profession. She is the author of textile paintings, which she produces using a unique technology invented by her.
