Bulgaria will host the 47th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee between July 6 and 16, 2025, caretaker Culture Minister Nayden Todorov said at a meeting in the History Museum in Petrich, Southwest Bulgaria, on Monday.

"The representatives of the committees must see Bulgaria’s wonders. There are people who cannot understand the meaning of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee being in Bulgaria. There are people who cannot understand the meaning of Bulgaria hosting 193 countries and their representatives. Half of them [the Committee representatives] do not know where Bulgaria is. What we are going to show them, and we hope for your support on site is not just to find out where Bulgaria is, but to fall in love with it and when they go back [home], to talk about Bulgaria," Todorov said.

According to the Minister, the UNESCO representatives, who will be some 4,000, will be divided into groups and will have the opportunity to see the cultural and historical heritage of Bulgaria. Todorov called on the mayors of the municipalities in the Blagoevgrad region to prepare presentations of the most attractive landmarks in the region.
