Lyudmil Angelov's piano recital is an event of the 24th "European Music Festival" in Sofia. On November 30, the pianist will perform on the stage of Bulgaria Hall, the Cantus Firmus music agency said Friday.

"This type of programme requires really serious preparation and due to my busy schedule lately, I have the opportunity to do such a concert no more than once a year. I am happy that this recital is realized as part of the "European Music Festival" and this has already become a tradition," the pianist said. The concert is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Polish Institute.

Lyudmil Angelov will present the four ballades by Frederic Chopin (Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23, Ballade No. 2 in F major, Op. 38, Ballade No. 3 in L flat major, Op. 47, Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op. 52). These are four independent pieces composed under the influence of the literary ballads of the Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz between 1831 and 1842. Another part of the programme is the Piano Sonata in B Minor by Franz Liszt, which, with its complexity and radically new conception of the sonata cycle, provoked strong negative reactions when it appeared in 1853, and is now recognized as one of the most important piano compositions of the 19th century.
