Representatives of the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia Tuesday held a meeting with a ten-member delegation of China's Wuhan University, led by Prof. Huang Taiyan. Sofia University was represented by Vice-Rector Acad. Tony Spassov, heads of faculties, and Prof. Christo Pimpirev, Director of the National Center for Polar Studies. At the meeting, the two universities signed official cooperation agreements, and their centres for polar research signed agreements for specific actions in Antarctica, Prof. Pimpirev said.

The guests from Wuhan University visited the National Center for Polar Studies and were acquainted with Bulgaria's activities in Antarctica and the National Polar Research Programme.

Wuhan has a population of 14 million people, and Wuhan University is the fifth biggest in China. The Chinese Antarctic Center of Surveying and Mapping with Wuhan University is one of the most developed in the country specializing in mapping Antarctica.
