The Bulgarian-Mexican film Limite by native-born director, screenwriter and producer George Nicholas will premiere in Sofia on May 11 at the Cinema House.
The event is part of the National Festival of Bulgarian Cinema, organized by the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers.
The film will be screened in Bulgaria after participating in festivals in the USA and Cuba.
The story is based on true events and focuses on the tragic fate of a 16-year-old boy from a good family in Tijuana who finds himself in a bad situation on the Mexican-American border. "Although it takes place in Mexico, the situation can be fully associated with the Bulgarian reality, " said the director, noting that the real life story touched him mostly because this boy, in another life, could have been him.
The 38-minute film was shot on location in Tijuana with Mexican actors, and the use of a bright color palette and Super 16mm format contributed to its artistic appearance.
