Until a few years ago almost nothing was heard about the victims of domestic violence, who chose to remain in the shadow by themselves. Recently, greater awareness in society, legislative changes, the work of the State and non-government organizations (NGO) have changed the situation. Now victims of violence feel more supported and are not afraid to speak up in front of everyone, said caretaker Minister of Justice Maria Pavlova Friday at a charity exhibition The Art Against Violence.

The exhibition is organized by the National Academy for Theater and Film Arts (NATFA) and the Bulgarian Film Institute, under the auspices of the University of National and World Economy.

A free mobile application titled Help Me, aiming to help victims of domestic violence was developed by the National Legal Aid Bureau and presented at the event.

Under the Justice Programme of the Norway grants, 8 projects related to the domestic violence prevention have been implemented in the last five years by five NGOs and 3 judiciary and executive bodies, Minister Pavlova stressed.
