The Parliament adopted at second reading on Thursday amendments to the Higher Education Act, which will allow the admission of students with temporary protection in Bulgaria to be carried out under easier conditions. The bill was supported by 111 MPs, 15 voted against and 21 abstained.

The MPs voted that the admission of students - foreign citizens or stateless persons, who have received temporary protection on the territory of Bulgaria, shall be carried out under facilitated conditions and in accordance with the procedure determined by an act of the Council of Ministers. After the expiry of the temporary protection or after the grounds for granting it have ceased to exist, the students will be able to continue their studies at the respective higher education institution under the conditions and in accordance with the procedure laid down for Bulgarian citizens.

Students will pay tuition fees at the rate set for Bulgarian citizens.
