A Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) exhibition on "75 Years of NATO and 20 Years of Bulgaria in NATO" opened at the Ceremonial Hall of the Rakovski National Defence College (NDC) in Sofia on Thursday.
NDC Commandant Maj. Gen. Todor Dochev said the exhibition is a recognition for all officers, either on active duty or in the reserve, who contribute to the high prestige of the Bulgarian Armed Forces and Bulgaria every day, "because our whole nation is in NATO, not just the Ministry of Defence; it is about time this is understood by everyone in our country".
BTA Director General Kiril Valchev said: "When we think about which part of Bulgaria's contribution to NATO deserves the greatest attention, it is the people with whom Bulgaria joined NATO, those highly educated military who make a daily contribution to security."
The exhibition can be seen in multiple venues. It opened at BTA Headquarters in Sofia on March 29, the day Bulgaria acceded to NATO in 2004, and in the national news agency's press clubs in Bulgaria and abroad. It uses photos and documents from BTA's archive to highlight important historical moments.
