Maestro Nayden Todorov conducted two concerts in Guadalajara, one of the largest cities in Mexico, the Sofia Philharmonic reported. Under Todorov's baton, the Filarmonica de Jalisco orchestra performed pieces by Felix Mendelssohn, Gabriel Faure and Veselin Stoyanov.
Stoyanov's Festival Overture was among the highlights of the programme. Jalisco's Secretary of Culture, Lourdes Gonzalez, who also attended the event, met with Todorov afterwards to discuss the problems that face classical music today, its future, as well as the possibilities for partnership. Todorov was invited to perform again in Mexico.
Todorov's next concert in Sofia will be on March 21, when Sofianites can enjoy Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major and Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major performed by pianist Elena Bashkirova. The two will then perform in Ruse, on the Danube, on March 23, and in Bucharest the following day.
